alerts. We have two redundant monitoring servers based in two
geographically separate sites in Ontario.
Basic polling/checking abilities include:
- Ping Internet IPs
- Check if a connection can be made to a
specified TCP port (silent check)
- Check if a well-known service (like HTTP, SMTP,
FTP, etc.) is operational (i.e. port open and
there is normal protocol response when
connected)
- Customizable polling interval, from 5 minutes
and up
- Customizable alerts via telephone/e-mail/SMS
with ability to have a cascading contact list
and multiple alerts or repetitions, as well as
ability to acknowledge an alert (in order to
stop any more alerts for the same polling item)
- Alert time is approximately one minute after poll**
- Access to a log/history report

* Our monitoring solutions are intended only to provide
the status of your systems. They do not, on their own,
have any impact on or ability to increase the uptime of
your network or systems. It is your responsibility to
act accordingly once you receive an alert from our
monitoring system.
** This means we will action on an alert within one
minute of a negative poll result. An alert is not
guaranteed to reach you one minute after the polling
time if it is sent by e-mail or SMS, since these are
systems beyond our control. However, if you choose
telephone alerts, we will begin calling your contacts
within one minute of a negative poll.
